Governance & Transparency
EURETINA is one of the leading scientific and professional organisations for retina specialists. The Society places great importance on ethical conduct and its success and good reputation rely on the honesty, integrity, and sound judgment of everyone involved in its activities.
EURETINA is governed by its bye-laws, which guide the way the Society functions and is managed. These are backed up by governance policies which, together with the bye-laws, provide a framework for ethical decision-making, responsible leadership and transparent communication with members and other stakeholders.
Core Values
Commitment: EURETINA’s activities are dedicated to fulfilling the Society’s mission, with all representatives expected to demonstrate complete commitment to these goals.
Integrity: EURETINA commits to transparency, trust, and fairness in all activities, ensuring an environment of open-mindedness, inclusivity and tolerance. The EURETINA Community, including members, representatives and all participants, is expected to act with the utmost professionalism, respecting the rights and dignity of others. Discrimination, harassment, or any form of inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Scientific integrity: All information shared through presentations, publications, and communications must be accurate, objective, and well-balanced. EURETINA strictly prohibits any misrepresentation of data, plagiarism, or unethical practices. Members are expected to adhere to relevant and applicable codes (World Medical Association Declaration of Helsinki and ARVO Statement for the Use of Animals in Ophthalmic and Vision Research).
Transparency: Board and Committee members are required to disclose any personal or financial interests which could influence their decision-making. Board members and speakers are required to disclose any conflicts of interest prior to their participation in EURETINA events or publications.
Accountability: Every individual within EURETINA is responsible for their actions and the quality of their contributions to the Society’s projects and activities.
